Bill is on a diet  Week 9

Bill loves to sit on the sofa on Sundays and watch golf. Bill no longer plays golf because of a bad back. We are fortunate to have the Canadian Open in town. The weather forecast for the last day of play is clear and warm. I suggest we go to the golf tournament and walk the course rather than sitting on the sofa and watching it. Tickets are bought and early the next morning we are out the door.

Happy Meals are a changin’

Well, finally. Due to a successful public campaign to improve Happy Meals McDonald's has announced it will make changes to improve the nutritional quality of the meal, however it will continue to include the junky toy. This isn't going to happen next week. McDonald's expects to have it available in all U.S. restaurants in about nine months.

Bill loves his ice cream. When he first started on his new eating plan he was measuring out his frozen treat in a 1/2 cup measure. He was shocked to think how much he was eating before his new plan. He guessed about 500 calories for ice cream plus toppings.

I came across a note worthy article while catching up on my professional reading. Researchers at Harvard University came up with some interesting results while looking at a 12 to 20 year analysis of 120,877 people who started the study healthy and nonobese. The analysis looked at that weight gain that creeps up over the years.

After last week's continual feast on Chef Dave's display of culinary skills this week was time to get back on track. Bill starts tracking his food again. The fridge is once again filled with fruits and vegetables and no leftovers. Life is back to normal.
