How many times have we lost weight only to have it find its way back and bring "friends"? Creeping weight gain

I came across a note worthy article while catching up on my professional reading. Researchers at Harvard University came up with some interesting results while looking at a 12 to 20 year analysis of 120,877 people who started the study healthy and nonobese. The analysis looked at that weight gain that creeps up over the years.

Omelet in a Bag

I spent a few days with family in Wisconsin on my way back from ASMBS in Florida. There was a houseful and my nephew and his wife came up with the perfect breakfast for a crowd, an omelet in a bag. This was new to me and what a great idea it is!

Which one is correct?

Are all measuring cups equal? I think not and I found this out when I recently purchased a measuring cup for liquids. My hummingbird feeder holds approximately one cup of liquid. I had been using my 2-cup measure to make the food for months. I made one cup of food with my new 1-cup measure and it was too much liquid for the feeder. How can this be since I made 1 cup like I usually do? It shouldn't really matter if I use standard measuring cups. Well the scientist in me had to determine the difference. I measured…

Busy is not active

Several years ago I attended a conference and something one of the speakers said has stuck in my head. "Busy is not active." Don't confuse the two. A great way to find out if you are active is to wear a…

End of year’s resolutions…

When Chef Dave and I  write for publications, the deadlines are months in advance. So while I am sitting here and writing about healthier eating for the New Year and the typical resolution to lose weight I thought, "Why do we wait for Jan. 1?"
